Miami University of Ohio separated student groups into religious and secular groups, making significantly more funds available to the non-religious groups. The college also required religious groups to justify all expenses, and it banned the use of any funds for “proselytizing.” No such restrictions applied to non-religious groups. ADF filed suit, and the University agreed to abolish the two-tier system of granting fees to student groups.
